Before coming to Canada in 1989, Layal had lived
between Lebanon and the Greek island of Cyprus. Not surprisingly, her
paintings still reflect the strong light and bright colours of the
Mediterranean sun. Greatly influenced by her father, a full time
professional artist, she began experimenting with different drawing
techniques and later studied art and painting at a local art college,
under the mentorship of several accomplished painters. In 2000 Layal
decided to incorporate computer graphics into her techniques and took a
one-year course at The International Academy of Design in Toronto and
graduated with honours while continuing to work as a freelancer.
Layal’s works have been shown in a number of art
exhibits throughout her career. An acclaimed artist, she was
appropriately recognized by the art community. She has worked
extensively in advertising, including the conceptualization and
implementation of window displays and posters for fashion, interior
design and jewelry retailers.
Her works can be found in private collections in
Canada and England, in addition to commissioned works and projects from
corporate and residential client. Layal shares her love of painting by
teaching oil and acrylic painting at Visual Arts Mississauga.
